Charles D. Heydt, 79, of New Berlinville, husband of Ruth L. (Bauman) Heydt, passed away on Tuesday at Pottstown Memorial Medical Center.

Born in Colebrookdale Twp., he was the son of the late Edwin D. and Elsie May (Grabert) Heydt.

Charles was a US Army Korean war veteran. He worked at the former Kehs Brothers in Bally, Tom Berkey's auto repair shop in New Berlinville and Wagner’s Coach in New Berlinville before retiring.

Surviving with his wife of 56 years are children Lou Ann Levengood, wife of Vern, Cindy Baus, David Heydt, fiance of Joan Drumheller, Theresa Kindig, wife of Brian, Mary Gehris, wife of Rick, Elizabeth Heydt, Patricia Berghardt, wife of Douglas, Michael Heydt, husband of Melissa, and Andrew Heydt, husband of Katie; brother Richard and Robert Heydt; sister Gloria Oswald; 16 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. Along with his parents, he is predeceased by his daughter Angela Marie Heydt and brothers C. Leroy and Harold Heydt.

A memorial service will be Tuesday, April 24, 11:00AM at Catagnus Funeral Home & Cremation Center, Inc., 1020 E. Phila. Ave., Gilbertsville, with Rev. John G. Pearson officiating. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery, Boyertown. Visitation will be Tuesday, April 24 from 9:30AM to 10:45AM at the funeral home.
