Donald E. Glenn, 84

Donald E. Glenn, 84, of Collegeville, formerly of Glenolden, husband of Lois (Ritter) Glenn of 58 years, passed away Thursday August 19, 2021 at The Landing of Collegeville.

Born in Philadelphia, he was the son of the late Earl Major and Gladys (Mellor) Glenn.

Donald served as a Major in the US Air Force and was initially stationed in Oregon where met his wife Lois in October of 1962. He then did a remote tour in Alaska where he experienced the 1964 earthquake. After leaving the Air Force in 1966, they moved back to the Philadelphia area where he continued his service through Reserves and worked as an Inventory Specialist Manager at the Defense Industrial Supply Center in Philadelphia for 28 years. He loved the outdoors, especially bicycling, running, gardening, canoeing, and star gazing. Affectionately known as Grandad or “Tada” to his grandchildren and great-grandsons, he enjoyed sharing his love of trains with them, often taking them to visit the Railroad Museum in Strasburg or riding the Septa train into Philadelphia.

Surviving along with his wife are three daughters - Cynthia Michel wife of Brian, DeeAnne Orzechowski wife of Christopher, and Jill Cummins wife of James; eight grandchildren - Bryce, Mallory, Meredith, Liam, Alina, Ewen, Klara, and Sean; two great grandsons - Ralph and Jack; and his sister Shirley McLaughlin.

Along with his parents, Donald was predeceased by his sister JoNan Slockett.

A memorial service will be held Saturday October 16, 2021 at First Presbyterian Church of Pottstown, 750 N. Evans St., Pottstown, PA 19464. Visitation is from 9:15-10:15 AM with the service to follow at 10:30. Interment will be held at a later date at Washington Crossing National Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Donald’s memory to First Presbyterian Church of Pottstown at the address listed above.
