Frances “Fran” Marie (Edwards) Weaver departed this life on November 18, 2021. Her homecoming date was the same as her beloved husband of 62 years, George Robert, Sr., who passed away 12 years earlier. Fran now rejoices eternally with Jesus and George. Born December 8, 1926 to the late Raymond Henry and Marie (Buck) Edwards in Bloomsburg, PA, Fran was a 1944 graduate of Bloomsburg High School and received her Registered Nurse (R.N.) degree in 1947 from Temple University Hospital in Philadelphia, where she also taught nursing. Fran and George were married December 27, 1947. They have three sons - George (Karen), Doug (Helen), and Keith (Tamara). The family moved to their home in New Hanover Township in 1958.

Fran was a R.N. at Pottstown Hospital, served as a nurse at Girl Scout Camp Kiwanis, and a staff nurse at the practice of Rivas, Perch, and Rose Urological Associates, retiring in the 1987. A member of New Hanover Evangelical Lutheran Church, Fran was a Sunday School teacher, Bible School teacher, and a Den Mother for Cub Scout Pack 367.

Fran was unconditionally devoted to her family and provided the best of love, care, inspiration, encouragement, and support. She also was compassionate (tolerant) toward an assortment of family pets including dogs, cats, chickens, geese, hamsters, gerbils, guinea pigs, alligators, skunks, turtles, and chameleons. She was a willing (but reluctant!) backseat motorcycle rider with husband George on many road trips. Always concerned and caring for all others above herself, Fran unselfishly attended to the needs of family, friends, and neighbors. She was well-loved, respected, and admired by those with whom she was acquainted. Many of her sons’ friends regarded Fran as their “second Mother.” Fran demonstrated a ministry of love and care in her daily walk and touched the lives of so many that remember her with great fondness to this day.

Fran was predeceased by a younger sister Jeanne and beloved granddaughter, Megan Marie Weaver (2016). Fran is survived by a younger sister, Janet Bachinger, younger brother Robert Edwards (Dee), her three sons and their wives, six grandchildren, and 12 great-grandchildren.

It is with great thanksgiving that the family remembers the loving support, concern, and kindness shown to Fran over the years by her church family, friends, and neighbors through home visits, phone calls, cards, meals, gifts, flowers, services, and prayers. The family also is thankful for the competent and compassionate hospice care Fran received from Tower Health at Home.

A family service to celebrate Fran’s life will be held at a later time. In lieu of flowers, monetary gifts can be donated to Loaves and Fishes Food Ministry of New Hanover Evangelical Lutheran Church, 2941 Lutheran Road, Gilbertsville, PA 19525 or https://www.newhanoverlutheran.org/donate.

Add My Condolences

It was my pleasure to know Fran personally and professionally for more than 40 years. What a wonderful person she was and a genuine joy to be around. My condolences go out to Doug, George, Keith and your families. Mom's love for you was only exceeded by her love for your dad. She was very blessed to have such devoted children who cared for her to the end of her life.
Sincerely,
Greg Levengood

Fran touched my life and many lives in New Hanover Township. We have been fighting the construction of a hard-rock quarry since 2001. For many years, "Francie" (as she signed her notes) donated to our organization, Ban-the-Quarry, semi-annually. She always expressed her appreciation for our work, and I'm sure she was aware of the health risks of Silicosis surrounding rock quarries. I had always wished we could have met. Her notes always gave me a smile and encouragement to continue. I'm thankful to know that she is with the Lord and her husband. I will never forget her kindness and caring spirit.

I worked with your mother from 1965 to 1978 at Rivas & Perch, and, yes, she was definitely a 2nd mother to all. Her infectious smile and hearty laugh and her warm and kind heart were contagious. I'm sorry we lost touch over the years, but she is always somone I will remember. So sorry for your loss.
