Joseph M. Nichols, 87

Joseph M. Nichols, 87 of Bally passed away on December 23, 2021. Born October 17,1934 in Chestnut Hill Hospital to Joseph Ewald Nichols and Miriam Spangler Nichols. He moved to the Landis Store area when he was ten years old. Unbeknownst to him he met his future wife at a church picnic in Bally. He served in the Navy from 1951 to 1955, plus six years in Reserves. Employed at Mack Trucks, Macungie from 1968 to 1991 last working as an Electrician. He attended Boyertown High School and enlisted in the Navy after tenth grade. On November 12, 2013, he was presented his High School Diploma by Superintendent Richard Faidley. He was the last Justice of the Peace for the Borough under the old system, and a Notary Public. He was a prominent figure on the Boyertown Area School Board for eight years. After he retired from Mack Trucks at age 56 he took a job at Quigley Bus Company Bally driving a School Bus.. He was known`` as Mr. Joe to the students. He had a passion for Antiques and Vintage cars. A Charter member of Hawk Mountain Region Ford V-8 Club. He was a member of the Ray A. Master American Legion Post, 217 Topton. A member of Most Blessed Sacrament Church. For the past 24 years he helped his wife collect Christmas gifts for Veterans at Coatesville where he was named an Outstanding Volunteer.

Joseph is survived by his wife of 65 plus years, Joan nee Kline Nichols and a son Joseph Jr., Boyertown Granddaughters, Kyra Lynn wife of Steven Tyzska, Moorestown, N J, Kerry Anne wife of Timothy Robinson, Spring City. Five great grandchildren, Brayden Tyzska, Lena Tyzska. Jacob Robinson, Lucas Robinson, Miles Robinson. A brother Philip Nichols, Redwood City, Ca .and many, nieces and Nephews. and his beloved Dachshund Klementine.. Preceded in death by two sisters, Patricia and Myra, three brothers, Jonathan, Stephen and Frederick. The family is requesting Face Coverings.

A Memorial Mass will be held on Saturday, January 22, 2022, at 11:00AM at Most Blessed Sacrament Church (610 Pine St, Bally, PA 19503). Burial will be held at a later date. A visitation will also be held on Saturday, January 22, 2022, from 9:00-11:00AM at the church. Luncheon at a later date.

In Lieu of Flowers, donations can be made to the Department of Veterans Affairs in his memory.
