Ann (Baronoff) Sakellaropoulos, 77, of Reading, wife of William P. “Bill” Sakellaropoulos, passed away on Wednesday February 16 at Reading Hospital.

Born in Pottstown, she was the daughter of the late Larry Baronoff and F. Jeanette Trojan. Surviving is her daughter Keely L. DeAngelis of Boyertown.

Ann worked for the Commonwealth of PA, Department of Public Welfare for 35 years, retiring in 2003. She was a volunteer ombudsman for the Office of Aging in Reading and a member of the Muscular Dystrophy Association. Ann was a longtime survivor of Pompe Disease and a member of the Pompe Alliance.

All services and interment are private.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Ann’s name to the Animal Rescue League of Berks County, 58 Kennel Road, Birdsboro, PA 19508.

Ann I will miss seeing your beautiful smile and the beautiful flowers you would always post. I want to express sympathy to Ann's family. I have Pompe disease, which led me to be connected to Ann on Facebook. I know that she likes flowers, and I even sent her photos of our flowers and flowers hanging on utility poles in Logansport, Indiana. Even though Ann and I never physically met, she is a good friend of mine. also my wife Liz wants to express her sympathy.

Ann messaged me when I was first diagnosed with Pompe, about 6 years ago, and took me under her wing. We soon became great friends. She was young at heart, fiesty, strong, very clever and very funny too. She gave me strength and would always support me, especially when I started the Hope Travels Mascot group, giving advice and encouragement. She was very loyal. She adored Keely, and loved her days out with her, I loved seeing their bond. She loved Bill, and her gorgeous Rosie posie too. She was such a kind lady, always offering advice to newly diagnosed Pompe patients, and would make everyone feel welcome. We would write to each other too as she loved letters, and we would talk about the royal family, as she loved the pomp and circumstance around it. Because she was such a classy, strong elegant lady I would call her Duchess. We used to pretend we were meeting up in the gorgeous Greek places she posted on Facebook, having long lunches eating good food. We never got to meet in real life, as I live in England, but we had a real friendship, which I cherished. She was a diamond, one of a kind, and I am going to miss her so much, as will all her friends. Sleep tight Duchess xx

Bill and Keely, you have my deepest condolences. Ann was one of the first Pompe Peeps that I met in person when I was diagnosed. She surprised me by showing up as the speaker at a patient/family dinner. She met my mother and other family members who supported me. My mom passed away on the same day (2/16) last year. Ann was such a caring, sweet, intelligent, and lovely person who will be sorely missed. Ann, please say hi to mom for me, and rest in eternal peace, my dear friend.

Ann was part of our Pompe family. Every day she posted pictures of beautiful flowers in hopes of brightening our day. She was kind and easy to talk with. My prayers are with her family. I’d like to think she is at piece and dancing in a field of beautiful flowers. She will be missed.
