Mildred T. Oxenford, 91

Mildred “Millie” T. (Kovach) Oxenford, 91, wife of the late George E. Oxenford, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 9, 2022, at Pottstown Hospital.

Born in Pottstown, she was the daughter of the late Andrew E. Kovach and Susan V. (Iswalt) Kovach.

Millie was formerly employed by the Pottstown School District as a cafeteria worker, and also the Pottstown Hospital as a dietary aide. She loved spending time with her family. She enjoyed baking, cooking, as well as, crocheting afghans for her grandchildren. She was an avid weekly bingo player and performer with the Nifty Fifties. In her younger days, Millie loved to go dancing, which is how she met her husband. Millie was a longtime member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Pottstown and was also a member of the TriCounty Active Adult Center (formerly known as the Pottstown Senior Center).

She is predeceased by her siblings John Kovach, Andrew Kovach, Margaret Dragus, Dorothy Sakal, and Gertrude Holowis. She is also predeceased by 2 of her children Eugene A. Oxenford, and Ronald A. Oxenford, husband of the late Cheryl A. (Barton) Oxenford.

Surviving are her children Cynthia L. (Oxenford) McKee Hontz, wife of the late Randall S. McKee and the late William C. Hontz, and David L. Oxenford, husband of Roberta (Kerstetter) Oxenford; 14 grandchildren; 37 great grandchildren; and 3 great-great grandchildren.

A viewing will be held on Monday, March 14, 2022, from 9:00-11:00 AM at Catagnus Funeral Home (711 N. Franklin St., Pottstown, PA 19464). Funeral service immediately following, with Fr. Francesco officiating. Burial will follow at Highland Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the TriCounty Active Adult Center in Mildred’s name.

I am very sorry for your loss. I have worked with Millie regularly in therapy at Sanatoga Court over the years and she was one of my favorites. I will truly miss seeing her every day
