Ernest R. Effrig, Sr., 92, of East Coventry, husband of the late Ruth D. (Williams) Effrig, passed away Saturday March 19, 2022 at the Pottstown Hospital.
Born in Hagerville, Bucks County, he was the son of the late Samuel and Ida (Strawn) Effrig.
Ernest loved his family, hunting, and new cars. He served in the US Army during the Korean Conflict. Ernest was a member of the NRA, He worked for 19 years at Schulz Bakery in Pottstown and 25 years for Morabito Bakery in Norristown where he retired in 1993.
Surviving are his three sons Ernest R. Effrig Jr. husband of Lisa, Gordon Effrig husband of Sarah, and Tim Effrig husband of Heidi; 7 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren; and his companion Marlene Williams.
Along with his wife and parents, Ernest was predeceased by his son Russell Effrig and 3 sisters.
A funeral service will be held Friday March 25, 2022 at 11:00 AM at Catagnus Funeral Home & Cremation Center, LLC., 1020 E. Philadelphia Ave., Gilbertsville, PA 19525. Interment will follow at Limerick Garden of Memories Mausoleum. Visitation will be held Friday from 10:00-10:45 AM at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Ernest’s memory to Relay for Life Pottstown Hospital, 1600 E. High St., Pottstown, PA 19464.
