Sue (Davis) Maggio, 89, of Boyertown, wife of the late Michael J. Maggio, passed away Friday May 6, 2022 at the Pottstown Hospital.

Born in Norristown, Pennsylvania on April 25, 1933 and raised in nearby Gulph Mills, she was the daughter of the late Warren S. and Ella (Earl) Davis. The family moved into a house on George Street in Norristown when Sue was in high school. On the other end of the same block lived the Maggio family. After only a year in Norristown High High School, Sue eventually graduated from Upper Merion High School in 1951. Sue attended nursing school at the old Pennsylvania Hospital on Spruce Street in Philadelphia. She obtained her Registered Nursing Certificate in 1954.

Although their families only lived a block apart Sue and Mickey (as Michael was nicknamed) did not meet until around 1953. Mickey was off at college and Sue was attending school, first in Upper Merion and then at Pennsylvania Hospital. They were married January 8, 1955.

Sue and Mickey raised 5 children. Sue was a labor and delivery nurse for decades first at Valley Forge Hospital, then at Phoenixville Hospital until retiring in 1998. Mickey passed away on January 7, 2022.

Sue was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and great great grandmother who will be dearly missed. She enjoyed golfing, bowling, bingo, and playing field hockey.

Surviving are her sons William Maggio husband of Vijay and Michael Maggio; daughters Aime Davies wife of Jeff, Leigh Anne Landis wife of Thomas, and Susan Lockowitz wife of Ed; grandchildren Anthony Maggio, Nicolas Maggio husband of Brittany, Will Maggio, Jasmine Maggio, Sophia Maggio, Alisa Stehman wife of Ethan, Kaleena Struebing wife of Toby, Adrienne Wolfgang wife of Dan, Tiffany Angstadt, Eddie Lockowitz husband of Miriam, Britta Davies fiancée of Lahi Salas, and Mycah Davies; great grandchildren Evan and Emma Marie Maggio, Megan and Sean Rutter, Ellie Stehman, Tayvin Struebing, Adrianna Fuller, Julianna Bostick, Aubrey Angstadt, Lyla and Malachi Angstadt, and Willow Davies; great great granddaughter Amelia Rutter; and sister Sandra Marsden.

Along with her husband and parents, Sue was predeceased by her brothers Warren and Richard Davis and her grandson Dustin Angstadt.

Funeral services will be held Thursday May 12, 2022 at 12:30 PM at Catagnus Funeral Home & Cremation Center, LLC., 1020 E. Philadelphia Ave., Gilbertsville, PA 19525. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery, Boyertown. Visitation will be held Thursday from 11:00 AM-12:15 PM at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Sue’s memory to the Lion’s Club of Boyertown, 2 E. 2nd St., Boyertown, PA 19512.

Sue was a wonderful nurse. She assisted in the birth of both of my children. She was so kind and nurturing. I never forgot about her through the years.

Susan, So sorry to learn of your mother’s passing. It appears that she led a full life and try to find some comfort by remembering all the good times you shared together. Losing both parents so close together has to be heartbreaking. Our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.

So very sorry to hear of Sue's passing. I worked with her at Phoenixville Hospital. She was a good nurse, and mentor.
