Charlotte D. Cubbler, 82

Charlotte D. Cubbler passed away on Monday, May 23 at UPMC Lititz Hospital. She was a loving mother of two, a doting Grandmother to four and a Great Grandmother to two.

Born in West Chester, PA on December 22, 1939, she was the daughter of Joseph and Josephine (Romualdi) DiRocco. She was the widow of Roy W. Cubbler who passed away in February 2015.

Mrs. Cubbler graduated from West Chester High School. She received her B.S. degree in education from Shippensburg University, and an M.S. degree in computer technology from Lehigh University. She was an educator in the Central Bucks, Pottsgrove and Boyertown School Districts until her retirement in 1999. She was a member of the Delta Pi Epsilon, a national graduate honorary society for business educators. Mrs. Cubbler also taught graduate level courses in computer technology at Temple University, Penn State University and Bloomsburg University.

In addition to her career as an educator, Charlotte was also the matriarch to four generations of the Cubbler/DiRocco family tree. She taught everyone how to laugh, how to bake cookies, how to stay organized, and how to plan family reunions. She was an avid, and often frustrated, Philadelphia Phillies and Eagles fan and had many suggestions for the General Managers of both teams. Most recently she was a resident at Brethren Village in Lititz PA, where Charlotte made many new friends and quickly became a key organizer of activities for the residents of her building. Her family and friends will certainly miss her smile, her energy, and the immense pride she had for all of her grandchildren.

She is survived by two sons, Roy (Barbara) of Glen Rock, PA and Scott (Lisa) of Lewisberry PA, four grandchildren, Kevin (Shaye), Eric, Taylor (Brandon), and Jake, and 2 great grandchildren, Brooks and Harper. Mrs. Cubbler is also survived by two sisters, Christine Fink of Lancaster, PA and Bernadette (Edwin) Guthrie, of Gainesville, Florida and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a brother, Joseph, of Lancaster, PA.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, June 1 at 11:00 AM at St. Aloysius Church, 233 Beech Street, Pottstown. Visitation will be held before the Mass, from 10:00-10:45 AM at the church. Burial will follow at Limerick Garden of Memories.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in her memory to the HHT Foundation, PO Box 329, Moncton, MD 21111.

Charlotte and Roy were my “ Kissing Cousins” who enjoyed doing family research. Charlotte was the sweetest , smartest ,most thoughtful friend anyone could have. I know Roy greeted her with a big smile and open arms. We will miss her. ??

Sending all my heartfelt sympathies to the Cubbler family for their loss. In terms of remembering her, had it not been for Mrs Cubbler asking (and thankfully pushing me) about my college plans early senior year of HS, I’m not sure I would have been ready and/or made it! For that I’m extremely grateful!! I will never forget the impact she had on me.
