Laverne “Knobby” Mest, 88, of Boyertown, husband of Dolores F. (Stull) Mest, passed away Friday June 3, 2022 at his residence surrounded by his family.
Born in Gilbertsville, he was the son of the late Paul and Minnie (Weller) Mest.
Knobby served in the US Air Force during the Korean War. He enjoyed bowling at the Oriole’s and playing quoits. He was well known for his Christmas lights display in Englesville. Knobby was also a Lifetime member of Friendship Hook & Ladder in Boyertown.
Surviving along with his wife are his sons Richard Mest husband of Christine Mest and Todd Mest husband of Martha Mest; daughter Terri Toro and grandchildren Shawn Barndt, Matthew Toro, Kelly Mest spouse of Yamara, Kevin Mest fiancée of Lauren, Troy Mest, and Ashley Mest Kirkpatrick wife of Joshua; great grandchildren Mason, Logan, Kevin Jr., Noah, Zoe, Theo, Levi, Evi, and Wednesday.
Along with his parents, Knobby was predeceased by his daughter Debbie; sons Scott and Troy; two brothers; and two sisters.
Funeral services will be held Thursday June 9, 2022 at 11:00 AM at Catagnus Funeral Home & Cremation Center, LLC., 1020 E. Philadelphia Ave., Gilbertsville, PA 19525. Burial will follow at Union Cemetery, Boyertown. Visitation will be held Thursday from 9:30-10:45 AM at the funeral home.
