James A. “Jim” Jones, 85, husband of Patricia Ruth (Leggett) Jones, passed away on Friday, June 3, 2022, at his home in East Coventry.
Born in Norristown, he was the son of the late William and Grace (Kinsey) Jones.
James was a high diver who won the state championship in 1953. He later was the diving and swimming coach at Penn Square Swim Club. Jim was also a glider pilot. He loved going to the beach, especially in Ocean City, Maryland and Hawaii.
Surviving along with his wife Pat, is his son Douglas Jones; daughter Kelly Jones; son Gary Jones; son Stephen Friedel (Kathy); step-children Stacey Hoopes (Mike), Terry, Rick, Linda, Carol, and Cathy; niece Grace Venezia; grandchildren Erin Sullivan and Becky Campbell along with 4 others; and numerous great grandchildren. He is predeceased by his daughter Julia Friedel; brother William; brother Howard; brother Ronald; and sister Ruth.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 11, 2022, at 12:00 Noon at Catagnus Funeral Home (1020 E. Philadelphia Ave., Gilbertsville, PA 19525) with Rev. Joseph Dietz officiating. A visitation will also be held on Saturday, June 11, 2022, from 11:00am-12:00pm at the funeral home. Burial will be held privately by the family.
