Thomas J. Dougherty, Jr., 92

Thomas J. Dougherty, Jr., 92, of Douglassville, formerly of Center Square, husband of the late Jean (Keyser) Dougherty, passed away Friday July 15, 2022 at Keystone Villa.

Born in Willow Grove, he was the son of the late Thomas J. and Margaret (McGrath) Dougherty. After serving in the U.S. Navy, he graduated from LaSalle College in 1954, and then worked at the Philadelphia Electric Company until he retired.

Thomas, known to his family as Tom, Dad, Pop, and Ace, loved playing golf, was an avid Philadelphia Phillies fan, had a passion for Big 5 basketball and was happiest when he was at the shore. He was a devoted husband to Jean for 63 years, and loved her cooking and baking almost as much as he loved her. He thoroughly enjoyed reading and listening to classical music, but he was never happier than when he was spending time with his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren, especially at Christmas.

Surviving are his two daughters: Susan Carville, wife of Robert and Nancy Klugh, wife of Brian; six sons, Thomas J. Dougherty III (Skip), husband of Monica, Matthew Dougherty, husband of Margie, John Dougherty, husband of Adrianne, Peter Dougherty, husband of Sheri, Joseph Dougherty, husband of Missy, and James Dougherty, husband of Amanda. He is also survived by 17 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; two brothers Jack and Gerry Dougherty; and two sisters, Peggy Carroll and Eileen Troxell.

A Funeral Mass will be held Thursday July 21, 2022 at 11:00 AM at St. Teresa of Calcutta, 256 Swamp Pike, Schwenksville, PA 19473 with Fr. Paul Brandt officiating. Burial will follow at Limerick Garden of Memories. Visitation will be held Wednesday July 20 from 6:00-8:00 PM at Catagnus Funeral Home & Cremation Center, Ltd., 329 N. Lewis Rd., Royersford, PA 19468 and on Thursday July 21 from 10:00-10:45 AM at the church.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Thomas’ memory to St. Teresa of Calcutta, 256 Swamp Pike, Schwenksville, PA 19473.
