Rita Hiltner, 60

Rita (Boland) Hiltner, 60, wife of Barry J. Hiltner, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, November 22, 2022, at her home in Gilbertsville.

Born in Abington, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Rita (Walsh) Boland.

Rita was a travel manager for over 30 years. She was a pioneer in her work force, working remotely from home back in the 90’s before that was a common thing to do. She was a Girl Scout and Co-Leader. Rita played an integral part in Debbie’s involvement in the 4H in Berks County. She loved to spend her vacations at the Jersey Shore. Although she hated the beach, she loved the shore. Rita also loved to go camping, listening to country music, and working in her garden. Rita was an avid sports fan, always rooting for Philadelphia Sports teams and enjoyed watching NASCAR. Being the extremely organized person that she was, she would often help organize with the group’s sports pools.

Surviving along with her husband Barry of 34 years, is her daughter Debra Hiltner; sister Diane Schlitzer, wife of John; several nieces, nephews, and great nieces and great nephews. She is predeceased by her brothers Kevin Boland and Michael Boland.

A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, November 30, 2022, at 11:00AM at Catagnus Funeral Home & Cremation Center, LLC (1020 E. Philadelphia Avenue, Gilbertsville, PA, 19525) with Deacon Jim Nash officiating. A visitation will also be held on Wednesday, November 30, 2022, from 10:00-11:00AM at the funeral home. Burial will be held privately by the family at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Ryerss Farm for Aged Equines (https://www.ryerssfarm.org/) in Rita’s name.

Rita was an incredible colleague, friend and person. She went above and beyond every day to support her fellow colleagues in her role as our travel manager at Precyse. The world is a little less bright without her smile and her compassion. Rita, thank you for your kindness and care and everything you did. Much love, Pamela.
