With deep and heartfelt sadness we announce the passing of Dorothy (“Dottie”) Stetler, our loving and devoted mother, grandmother, and great grandmother.

Born Dorothy Virginia Schaeffer in Douglass Township, Berks County in 1939, she was the daughter of the late Ruth Schaeffer who passed away when Dottie was 11 years old. She attended the Carson College for Orphan Girls and graduated from Springfield High School before marrying the late LeRoy Stetler in 1956. Living in Boyertown for the past 65 years, she was employed at various establishments in the community, with the most notable including Great American Knitting Mills, Shop Rite, Redners, and Walmart.

Dottie was an avid baker, kept an immaculate house, was highly skilled with crochet hooks and knitting needles, and loved to make people laugh with her jokes. A smile was the core of her existence. Whether it be a chuckle from a joke, a smile from a slice of her delicious cherry cheesecake, or the laughter from one of her loving grandchildren, Dottie ensured that the world always had a smile.

A farm girl at heart, she also had a passion for her gardens and beloved cats, which she tended to up until last week. Most of all, Dottie was devoted to her beautiful family, very often telling them that they meant everything to her. She was a woman of unshakable conviction and determination, who was dedicated to mothering and nurturing, ensuring that everything she touched blossomed.

She is the adored mother of Lorelei Carr (Patrick), Melessia Stetler, Natalie Aston (John), Allen Stetler, Gretel Braverman (Warren), and Amy Stetler (John). Cherished grandmother of Derek (Carlla), Jennifer, John, Jackie, Keith, Alden, and Zoe. Great grandmother of Alec, Korbin, Jaydan, Tessa, Avary and Emerson. Dear sister of Barry and Philip Mann (Linda). She will be remembered by many in-laws, cousins, nieces, neighbors, and a numerous group of friends. Most certainly, Dottie will also be remembered for her famous Christmas cookies, for which she spent countless hours baking and delivering to those whom she loved.

She will be deeply missed and forever in our hearts.
