Elizabeth “Betty” Ellen DeStephanis Wilmer passed away early in the morning on Friday, June 7, 2019, with her family by her side at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia.
Her legacy will far surpass her 61 years, but her life is celebrated by Donald F. Wilmer, her husband of 37 years. And her loss is deeply felt by her children, Danielle and Donald, who followed in her artistic footsteps to pursue their ambitions in photography and graphic design. Betty’s passion and talent for art, painting, and crafts was so strong that it opened her children’s eyes to new creative paths. She will forever be the definition of a loving mother and wife to them all.
Betty saw beauty everywhere she looked. But she especially loved seeing it take flight in the form of bird-watching. A perfect day to her was visiting an arboretum, garden, or museum with her husband. If her schedule didn’t allow an in-person trip, she would happily watch every animal show on television, to always get as close as she could to the experience of the natural beauty around her. Her 6-month-old kitten, Agnes Amelia, was the walking embodiment of this natural joy in her final days.
Born in Wyndmoor on September 3, 1957, Betty was the daughter of the late Raymond and Agnes (Ginder) DeStephanis. Her siblings, Raymond, Mary, Lisa, her late sister, Suzanne, and niece Stephanie, always surrounded her with love as well as many nieces and nephews, with whom she loved to share time and experiences. Her professional path included 35 years of accounting with Component Enterprises in Norristown, where she showed devotion and excellence, year after year.
A memorial visitation will be held on Friday, June 14, 2019 at Catagnus Funeral Home (329 N. Lewis Rd., Royersford, PA) from 11:00 AM – 12:30 PM. Her family invites all who wish to share words and memories of Betty to join in a commemoration of her life. A lunch in her honor will be held at Copperfield Inn at Lakeside following the Memorial Service.

Aunt Betty was my favorite. I was always very close with Danielle and Donald growing up; as a result I also was close with her as well. She had such a warm, loving personality and she made me feel like one of her own. I will always cherish the memories of the times we spent together. I love you so much.
