Isabel D. (David) Shaver 85, of Limerick, formerly of Gladwyne, wife of Jerry Shaver, passed away on Sunday, November 24 at Pottstown Hospital.
Born in Philadelphia, she was the daughter of the late Herbert Hurst David and Isabel Newell (Gill) David. Isabel graduated from Lower Merion High School in 1952. She loved to fish and was always on the lookout for a shady fishing hole along the Juniata River. Many of her summers were spent enjoying the sand, surf and family activities on the Jersey Shore. Isabel was an avid reader and especially loved memoirs. Autumn was her favorite season and she treasured drives through the countryside. Her passion for knitting became charitable gifts for friends. Isabel had a tender, reassuring demeanor and she treasured time with her family. Her sensitive heart was always open.
Surviving with her husband of 66 years is son David Shaver, husband of Beth; daughter Karen Hazel, wife of Don; and was affectionately know as “Gma” by her grandchildren Chris Hazel husband of Kristin; Andrea Ihlefeld, wife of Jon; Mark Shaver fiancé of Katie; Eric Shaver, and John Shaver. Isabel had an open heart and devoted interest in her grandchildren’s lives. Her capacity for empathy was infinite.
A memorial service will be held in May 2020 at the Limerick Garden of Memories Memorial Chapel.
