Jacqueline A. Long, 78, of Pottstown, North Coventry Twp., passed away on Friday, February 5th at Reading Hospital.
Born in Pottstown, she was the daughter of the late Miller and Ruth (Gloss) Long.
Jackie earned her master’s degree in education from Kutztown University. She taught social studies at Owen J. Roberts Middle School for over 40 years, retiring in 2008.
She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star Schuylkill Chapter #338, NEA and PSEA.
To her family, she will always be Aunt Jackie. To her nieces, she also referred to herself as Auntie Mame. She loved to take her nieces shopping with her from the time they were young up into their teen years. She actually wanted to spend time with sulking teenagers!
She was an avid reader. One could probably start their own library with all the books she had in her house. She passed along her love of reading to her nieces and grand-nieces and nephews by buying them all multitudes of books over the years.
She and Stephanie enjoyed going to lunch most Fridays in Exton where Stephanie works. She also enjoyed traveling to spend the summers visiting with Elizabeth and her family in Missouri.
Surviving are nieces Elizabeth Harris, wife of Rev. Larry Harris and Stephanie Stamy, companion of Trynon Robinson and great-nieces and nephews Max Razer, Devon Razer, Tyler Stamy, Tori Countryman, wife of Aaron, and Ta-Tahni Robinson. Along with her parents, she is predeceased by her sister Marilyn Swart and brother Charles M. “Barney” Long.
A private family graveside service will be on Friday, February 12.
