John J. Novak, 84, of Boyertown, husband of the late Mary M. (Martin) Novak, passed away Sunday January 24, 2021 at his residence.
Born in Pittston, he was the son of the late Edward T. and Susan (Mikelski) Novak.
John served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He worked as a Lieutenant Officer at Graterford Correctional Institution for 25 years. John was a member of St. Columbkill Roman Catholic Church in Boyertown, a life member of the American Legion in Oley where he served as Commander, a life member of D.A.V., and an active member of the Boyertown Senior Center.
Surviving are his two daughters: Dr. Johnna L. Weller, wife of Ken of South Coventry, and Maria L. Dugan, wife of Gerry of Hebron, MD; four grandchildren: Adam Weller, Zachary Weller (husband of Allison), Rachel Weller, and Spencer Novak (fiancée of Karl Dampf); four great-grandchildren; one sister, Connie Ruggeri of Florida; and companion Dolly Moyer of Boyertown.
A Memorial Mass will be held Friday January 29, 2021 at 11:00 AM at St. Columbkill Church, 200 Indian Spring Rd., Boyertown, PA 19512, with Fr. Martin Kern officiating. A military burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery, Boyertown.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in John’s memory to the Center at Spring Street, 200 Spring St., Boyertown, PA 19512.
