Joseph J. Hilbert, 88, of Pottstown, husband of Joan M. (Torak) Hilbert, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 5th at his home surrounded by his family.

Born in Boyertown, he was the son of the late Sadie (Eline) Hilbert.
Joe was a U.S. Army Veteran. He worked for 30 years at Robinson Clay in Pottstown and went on to retire in 1993 from Stanley G. Flagg Company. Joe was a member of St. Aloysius Roman Catholic Church. He enjoyed working outside and loved attending to his roses. Joe was an experienced handyman and had a talent for making birdhouses. Joe also enjoyed attending yard sales, going to the casinos, and breakfast outings with his family and friends. Recently, he loved riding his scooter on trails, especially Valley Forge Park.

Surviving with his wife of 63 years are daughters Sandra J. Schaeffer and Joanne Scott, wife of Cory; sisters Carol Miller and Elizabeth Schlegel; and grandchildren David Schaeffer, husband of Lauren, Paige Scott, Brooke Scott, and Cori Scott. Along with his mother he is predeceased by his sister Margaret Rhoads and brother Marvin Hilbert.

His funeral mass will be held Saturday, January 23rd at 11am at St. Aloysius RCC, Hanover and Beech Streets, Pottstown, PA 19464.
