Joshua David O’Connor, 17, of New Hanover, passed away on December 29, 2020 at his residence.
Born in Pottstown, he was the son of David Joseph and Laura Christine (Marks) O’Connor.
Joshua was an accomplished Eagle Scout with Boy Scout Troop 36. He was a junior at the Boyertown Area Senior High School, where he sang in the choir and was Sergeant-at-Arms for the school’s Technology Student Association. Joshua was also an avid space flight enthusiast who aspired to work for NASA.
As a member of St. Columbkill Church in Boyertown, Josh was an altar server and a volunteer for Vacation Bible School.
Surviving along with his parents is his sister Katelyn M. O’Connor; paternal grandfather Thomas E. O’Connor; maternal grandfather Thomas A. Marks; maternal grandmother Paula J. Marks; step-grandmother Deborah Marks; uncle Thomas A. O’Connor fiancée of Sheila Bohn; and aunts Rosemarie O’Connor and Kathleen O’Connor.
Joshua was predeceased by his paternal grandmother Jean M. O’Connor.
A Funeral Mass will be held Tuesday January 5, 2021 at 12:00 PM at St. Columbkill Church, 200 Indian Spring Rd., Boyertown, PA 19512, with Fr. Martin Kern officiating. Interment will be private. Visitation will be held Tuesday from 10:00-11:45 AM at the church.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Joshua’s memory to Boy Scouts of America Valley Forge Council, 1485 Valley Forge Rd., Wayne, PA 19087 or to the Boyertown Area Multi-Service, 200 Spring St., Boyertown, PA 19512.
