Karen (Saboe) McNear, 61, of Pottstown, wife of Todd McNear, passed away Monday January 11, 2021 at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania.
Born in Bryn Mawr, she was the daughter of the late Michael Jr. and Katherine (Linck) Saboe.
Karen moved to the Pottstown area where she trained horses professionally for many years as the founder and owner of the Sanatoga Equestrian Center. She then switched her career and became an EMT and paramedic, serving the areas of Trappe, Pottstown, and Boyertown. She eventually became an occupational medic for Merk Pharmaceutical.
Karen was a member of the Penn State Alumni Association, Sanatoga Equestrian Center, MS Society, Operation Enduring Warrior, Gold Star Mothers Volunteer, Patriot Guard Riders, Cancer Society, and the American Quarter Horse Association. She loved spending time with her grandchildren, volunteering, hiking, and riding horses.
Surviving along with her husband are two sons John R. Hartranft III husband of Courtney, and Thomas Joseph Wojton husband of Emily; two daughters Jessica K. Lindquist wife of Shane, and Mallory F. McNear Zimmerman wife of Gavin; five grandchildren Ryan and Jace Lindquist, Logan Zimmerman, and Savannah and Collin Joseph Wojton.
Along with her parents, Karen was predeceased by her brothers Michael and Steve Saboe.
A funeral service will be held Monday January 18, 2021 at 11:00 AM at Catagnus Funeral Home & Cremation Center, LLC., 711 N. Franklin St., Pottstown, PA 19464. Burial will follow at Mt. Zion Cemetery, Pottstown. Visitation will be held Monday from 9:00-10:45 AM at the funeral home.
