Mae Frances Phillips nee Nixon, age 97 years 7 months 2 weeks, wife of the late Joseph Morris Phillips, passed away quietly in her sleep on the evening of Monday, July 19th, 2021 at Amity Place Assisted Living Community, Douglassville, PA.
Mae Frances previously lived with her Husband and Children for many years on Grubb Road, East Coventry Township and East Main Street, North Coventry Township, Pottstown, PA.
Mae Frances was born on December 1, 1923, the daughter of the late Jessie Willena (Butler) Nixon and the late James Franklin Nixon of McCall Creek and Ocean Springs, MS. She was the third of six siblings, all deceased in birth order: Mary Willena Nixon; Aamsay Laurie Nixon; Martha Louise Nixon Holliman; James Franklin Nixon Jr; and Jayne Lee Nixon Spiers.
She was a member of the Order of the Amaranth, Lancaster Court #70, Masonic Center of Lancaster County, PA, and was an Honorable Member of the Berks County Veterans Association serving as a Nurse Cadet during WWII. She was educated in McCall Creek Schools and graduated from Baptist Hospital School of Nursing, Jackson, MS, where ironically she was also born, the only one of her siblings to be born in a hospital. She was a former member of St. John’s Lutheran Church and Bethel Methodist Church both of Pottstown. Mae Frances and late husband Joseph M. Phillips were co-owners of Phillips’ Drive In Restaurant (The Treat) in Stowe, PA along with the late Benjamin and Barbara Phillips (brother and sister-in-law) and the late Joseph and Vivian Phillips (parents of Joseph M. and Benjamin). Mae Frances lived a long, prosperous, fruitful life and witnessed many remarkable and historic events during her time on this Earth. She told her family she had no regrets and was thankful for all the blessings bestowed upon her lifetime.
Mae Frances is survived by her 3 children Kay Frances Phillips Broussard and husband Ray Broussard; Joseph James (Jim/JJ) Phillips; and Yvonne Phillips Boucher and husband David Boucher; 5 Grandchildren J. Raymond Broussard Jr.; Jennifer V. Broussard Gallagher; Michael M. Broussard and wife Erin Broussard; Brother Joseph Boucher (Alexander J. Boucher); Adrienne F. Boucher Lasitter and husband Mark Lasitter; 8 Great-Grandchildren: Maelayna K. Broussard Walterick and husband Travis Walterick; Cheyenne C. Hails Malfaro and husband Tony Malfaro; Sierra M. Hails; Zachary M. Broussard; Madison J. Broussard; Adam C. Broussard; Eliza F. Lasitter; and Malachi H. Lasitter; 3 Great-Great Grandchildren, Lillianna M. Walterick; Nollen T. Walterick; Josephina M. Malfaro; and Sister-In-Law Thea-Mae Phillips Baus. Mae Frances is also survived by multiple nieces, nephews, their spouses, their children and grandchildren.
Services will be private and at the family’s convenience.
