Michael Edward Brennan of Pottstown Pa. died at home on Monday, March 8, 2021. He was 48 years old. He was a proud father, adoring husband, loving son, tech genius, and great friend to so many. His loss leaves a hole in the hearts of all who knew him, but we will treasure for a lifetime the millions of memories and laughs we shared.
Mike was born on July 27, 1972 in Syosset, NY, Long Island. At six months old, he was adopted by his parents, Michael and Sharon, who loved him immensely. He spent his childhood in Floral Park and Levittown, NY. He graduated from Island Trees High School in 1990, and later attended SUNY Morrisville.
Mike began a 25-year career in telecom at USN Communication (Broadview Networks/Windstream) in Manhattan, where he met his soulmate, Cindy. He’d be the first to share that he did not make the best impression on the woman who would be his boss and later would become his life partner and love of his life. Both New Yorkers at heart, Cindy and Mike moved to Pennsylvania to continue their careers, first in Warminster and then in Pottstown, where they raised two amazing children, Elizabeth, born in 2003, and Michael, born in 2007.
Most recently, Michael’s telecom career led him to The Lehigh Valley Health Network as a Manager of Network & Communications, an organization that held a special place, literally, in his heart. In 2013, Michael suffered an aortic aneurysm; it was the surgeons and staff of Lehigh Valley Hospital who saved his life by replacing the valve. He was considered a medical miracle and during his follow-up testing and care Michael was diagnosed with Marfan Syndrome, a genetic connective tissue disorder that affects the blood vessels. heart, eyes, blood vessels, and bones.
Michael was the fixer of all things and a technology guru. Complex servers, coding, and NOCs were part of his daily speak. He was the go-to when it came to impossible problems to solve or challenging connections to build. No one could do it better.
A man of great faith, he was a member of St. Teresa of Calcutta Church in Schwenksville, Pa. He loved music and shared that love with his children. He often could be found sitting out on the back deck or in the basement casually playing the guitar. Michael’s greatest joy was watching his children doing the things they were most passionate about. He enjoyed traveling with his family, especially summer trips to the beach. He loved trips to the park and walks around the neighborhood with his dog, Daphne. He loved the night sky and all things science. He enjoyed hosting family and friends for drinks and games and shenanigans. He was sarcastic, witty, kind, and goofy all rolled into one.
In addition to his wife, Cynthia (Cindy), and children, Elizabeth Marie and Michael Bernard, Michael is survived by his mother and stepfather, Sharon and Anton Kreisberg; father, Michael K. Brennan, and his fiancée, Bonnie; sister and brother-in-law, Jennifer and Jeff Kulberg; mother-in-law, Dorothy Petak; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Greg and Mary Petak; five nieces and one great-nephew, as well as fur-babies, Daphne and Ditto. He was preceded in death by his father-in-law, Bernard Petak.
A Memorial Mass will beheld on Friday, March 26 at St. Teresa of Calcutta Church, 256 Swamp Pike, Schwenksville, PA 19473, with Fr. Paul Brandt officiating. Visitation will be from 2-3:45 p.m. and mass will begin at 4 p.m. Interment will be private.
