Phyllis J. (Firing) Ludy, 89, of Douglassville, formerly of Pottstown, passed away Saturday December 21, 2019 at Keystone Villa in Douglassville surrounded by her family and care providers.
Born in Pottstown, she was the daughter of the late Herbert L. and Frances (Sorg) Firing.
Phyllis loved spending time with her family. She enjoyed knitting, quilting, reading, playing cards, going to the movies, and watching TV, including Fox News and Downton Abbey. She enjoyed going to the shore, being in the water, and was an avid Eagles fan.
Phyllis overcame the challenges and struggles of Polio, which she contracted as a young child. She resided at Keystone Villa for 14 years where she was the president of the residence association, a position she served with great pride and enthusiasm. Along with her infectious smile and great sense of humor, she always made those around her feel comfortable. She often welcomed new residents and brought them into activities, as to include everyone.
Surviving is one son Daniel L. Yergey husband of Karen; two daughters Jan Yergey Reiss wife of Terry, and Jill Ludy Doyle wife of Michael J.; six grandchildren Dina, Benjamin, Jamee, Brad, Matthew, and Erin; four great grandchildren; ten great great grandchildren; and her many grand-dogs. She was treasured by all for her antics and many many stories. She loved her family deeply and was so very proud of their accomplishments.
Along with her parents, Phyllis was predeceased by her brother Richard Firing husband of the late Pauline.
A funeral service will be held Saturday December 28, 2019 at 11:00 AM at Catagnus Funeral Home & Cremation Center, Inc., 711 N. Franklin St., Pottstown, PA 19464. Interment will be private. Visitation will be held Saturday from 10:00-10:45 AM at the funeral home.
