Raymond D. Gofus Sr., age 81, husband of the late Lynette (Burdan) Gofus, of Brookview Ave., Coatesville, Pa., and formerly of Stowe, died Sunday at his residence.

Born in Pottstown he was the son of the late Joseph and Mary (Sharo) Gofus .

He was a 1945 graduate of Pottsgrove High School, and later served in the U.S. Navy.

He worked at the former Chromalloy Glass Co., in Phila. for many years.

Ray was a member of St. Peter’s R.C. Church, W. Brandywine Twp. Pa. He was a member and past President of the Pottsgrove School Board. He was also a member of the West End Fire Co., the Stowe Lions Club and the American Veterans Association. Ray was a founding member of the Pottsgrove “Booster” club. In 1994 Ray was inducted into the Pottsgrove School District Honor Roll in recognition of distinguished achievements in his chosen profession and service to the Pottsgrove Community. He was the consummate sports fan, loving the Phila. sports teams and particularly all Pottsgrove High School sporting events.

Surviving is a daughter; Donna M. wife of Robert L. Fesmire, of Downingtown, along with four grandchildren; Christopher Gofus, Jeffrey Gofus, Bryan Gofus, and Kristin Fesmire. Also surviving are seven great grandchildren and his brother, Paul Gofus, of Myrtle Beach, SC.  He was predeceased by a daughter Deborah Ann Gofus and a son, R. David Gofus Jr.

Relatives and friends are invited to the Funeral Mass to be celebrated on Saturday at 11 AM, in St. Peter’s R.C. Church, 2835 Manor Rd., W. Brandywine Twp., Pa. Visitation will be from 9 to 11 AM Saturday at the church.  Burial will be in St. Aloysius New Cemetery, Lower Pottsgrove Twp. The burial (only) will be private.
