Shirley Page (Jones) Kemp, age 80, wife for 52 years of the late Karl R. Kemp, a resident of Nettles Island in Jensen Beach, Florida, and formerly of Trappe, passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Thursday, July 1, 2010, at the home of one of her daughters in Trappe.  She was born on November 6, 1929, at the Germantown Womens Hospital in Philadelphia, a daughter of the late Helen (Foster) Jones and the late Theodore C. Jones.

She was a 1947 graduate of Abington High School and a 1951 graduate of the Presbyterian Hospital School of Nursing in Philadelphia. Shirley was united in marriage on November 24, 1951, to Karl R. Kemp in Jenkintown.  During the Korean War she was employed stateside in Key West, Florida. Shirley was employed at the former Montgomery County Geriatric Rehabilitation Center as the assistant director of nursing, retiring in 1990.

Shirley was affiliated with the Trappe Historical Society as a visitor tour guide, the Tall Cedars Ladies Auxiliary, and the Perkiomen Valley School Board and she also ran with the Trappe Ambulance as a nurse in the 1970’s. While residing in the Stuart, Florida area, she was a member of the bocce club, the womens club, the nurses club of Nettles Island and she enjoyed line dancing and golfing. Shirley had many close friends in Nettles Island with whom she enjoyed many trips and good times. She enjoyed volunteering and was a hard worker. In her spare time she enjoyed puzzles, books, traveling and a good political debate. Shirley had a great sense of humor and lived life to it’s fullest. She donated to many charities and enjoyed chauffering her friends in Florida.

She is survived by her 5 daughters; Valerie Chrisman (wife of Joseph) of Sanatoga, Janice Heimer (wife of Donald) of Gilbertsville, Sheryl Millard (wife of Barry) of Royersford, Cynthia Cartacki (wife of Alan) of Trappe, Sandra Nice (wife of Brad) of Trappe, her 12 grandchildren; Stephanie Chrisman, Bradley Chrisman, Gregg Heimer, Adam Heimer, Brent Heimer, Amanda Di Gangi, Karly Sloan, Tracy Sloan, A.J. Cartacki, Krista Cartacki, Richard Nice, Brandy Nice, her brother, Theodore Jones (husband of Bonnie) of New Jersey, her sister-in-law, Karen Piper, of New Smyrna, Florida, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend her Memorial Service on Wednesday, July 7, 2010, starting at 11:00 AM at Catagnus Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 329 N. Lewis Road, Royersford, Pa., 19468, and to her Visitation on Wednesday morning from
10-10:45 AM at the Funeral Home.  Burial will be held privately by her family at a later date in Limerick Garden of Memories, Limerick, Pa.
