William R. Richardson, 58, of East Coventry, passed away Thursday April 23, 2020 at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital in Philadelphia.
Born in Chambersburg, PA he was the son of William Charles Richardson and the late Elaine Gail (Arndt) Richardson.
Early in his life, Bill developed a love for the outdoors. He would camp by creeks, trap muskrats and rabbits, and train his beloved dogs to point at the sight and smell of small game. Bill appreciated all types of hunting and lived for deer and turkey season. Fishing in both salt and freshwater was a great passion of his. He enjoyed spending the hunting seasons with extended family and friends at the family hunting camp. Bill also owned his own hunting camp which he enjoyed having friends and family come to for over 20 years. He enjoyed sharing his passion of hunting, fishing and the outdoors with others. Later in life, Bill also took up an interest in riding his motorcycle. He was an employee of Cerner (previously SMS, then Siemens) for over 35 years. At the age of 56 he received the gift of life through a life-saving heart transplant at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital after waiting inpatient in the CVICU for four months. He enjoyed going back to visit his nurses and healthcare team up until his passing.
Surviving along with his father are his two children Kelsey Richardson and Luke Richardson; one brother Robert Richardson (Christie); one sister Jennifer Richardson (Bruce Burdsall); nephews Rory Richardson and Cameron Evans; nieces Kyra and Karlie Evans; along with several aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
Funeral services will be pushed to a later date, to be determined.
Because Bill was a heart transplant recipient, contributions may be made in Bill’s memory to Donate Life America in lieu of flowers.

Bill could walk in to a room of people and everyone in that room would light up with a smile.
I cant think of one person that dosen’t have a smile on there face when he is brought up in conversation.
He was so handsome with that smile, and a fun crazy outer friend .the world was a better place with him.i will miss him
I was friends with Bill for 33 years, and even roommates for 1 year. (Great Times) I have so many memories of great adventures, and activities. (Canoe trips, fishing, hunting, riding the Harley’s and general hanging out.) Just thinking about these times brings joy, but also sadness that he’s gone. Bill lived his life to the fullest and was there when you really needed him.
What can I say about my good friend and Teammate/ outdoorsman. # 6 7/8 for the Scrufty Dogs, Billy & I had a lot in common. His passion & Love for the game of Hockey & the Outdoors was one in the same. In the late 80’s Billy turned me on and introduced me to World Renowned Salmon River! For 20+ years I looked forward to our comradery and adventure in upstate New York! He taught me his snagging technique and once I got it down it was “FISH ON” We all surely had a lot of fun & laughter & memories together, those of us who made the trip every year. Thanks Billy you were an awesome guy & I’ll cherish our memories together for Life! Randall Gibbons
Well Bill its the New York Gobbler opener on Friday, So I am heading north. Thank you for introducing me to the Spring Gobbler season. There is more than just trout fishing in May. I enjoyed 50 years of your friendship. Little League baseball, OJR wrestling, fast pitch softball, and many many hunting and fishing trips. We had many memorable nights afield camping in Promised Land State Park and Pettycoat Junction campground near English Center. We stayed with our sons at your camp. Many trips to the Altmar Hotel and the Salmon River in New York. One of my favorites was Clearfield County archery so many years ago. Rest in Peace my man! I will think of you every turkey, fishing and deer season.
