Charlotte “Dutti” (Zippelius) Opitz, 93, of Coventryville, formerly of Santiago, Chile, wife of the late Hernan E. Opitz, passed away Thursday September 23, 2021 at Woodbridge Place Assisted Living in Phoenixville.

Born in Santiago, Chile, she was the daughter of the late Otto and Lizzy (Weber) Zippelius.

At a young age and after marriage, the young family took a big decision and emigrated to the USA, where she learned English at home as well as in evening courses. At a later stage she acquired her driving license which she enjoyed very much.

Dutti was a wonderful loving wife and mother. She was a shining example of how a mother should be, though her humble nature would now protest. Her unspoken motto was family first! She was a hard working wife and mother who took great pride in raising her family. She was a most dedicated chef providing her family & friends with nutritious meals and great dishes including her Chilean/German specialties.

Dutti also loved visiting her home country Chile on an annual basis. Further, she travelled to visit her daughter in Switzerland and her son in Japan.

Surviving her, in loving memory, is one daughter Susan Ruettimann wife of Frank and three sons: Martin Opitz husband of Naoko, Erwin Opitz husband of Elizabeth, and Thomas Opitz husband of the late Tricia; eight grandchildren Annri, Michelle, Christine, Steven, Bennett, Elida, Anders, and Tommy; three great grandchildren Amelie, Genevieve, and Hana; and one brother Hans Zippelius Weber.

Funeral services will be private at a later date.
