Terry A. Kauffman, 67, of Pottstown, husband of Diana M. (Jones) Kauffman, passed away on Tuesday, November 9, 2021, at Phoenixville Hospital.
Born in Pottstown, he was the son of the late Marshall Kauffman and Anna (Biehl) Breidenbach.
Terry graduated from Pottstown Senior High School in 1972. He attended various fire science courses at Penn State and Lewisburg Fire Academy.
Terry was employed at The Hill School for 39 years, working in the security department. He was eventually promoted to the Director of Safety, Security and Transportation until his retirement in 2014.
Terry was a member of Goodwill Fire Company for 30 years, starting off as a junior fireman. He worked his way through the fire department and became Goodwill Fire and Rescue chief. He was also a member of North End, NORCO, Ringing Hill, Linfield and New Hanover Fire Company where he was inducted as a charter member, along side his grandfather who helped establish the company. Terry would participate in all the local fireman parades and expos.
He was also a member of Pottstown police auxiliary. Terry attended St. James Church in Pottstown and loved to travel and take rides to the mountains with his family. He loved muscle cars, especially his Dodge Charger, and enjoyed going to car shows and parades too.
Terry was an avid Penn State football fan and could often be found at State College cheering the team on. He also enjoyed playing golf.
Terry had a love for animals. He enjoyed playing ball and taking walks with his dogs. He also enjoyed having his dogs and cats sit on his lap.
Surviving with his wife of 46 years are daughters Heather Levan, wife of Jeff, and Krista Kauffman; siblings Martin Kauffman, Marshal Kauffman Jr., husband of Phyllis, Robert Kauffman, Wilson Kauffman, husband of Debbie, Joanne Vital, wife of Duri, and James Kauffman, husband of Tara; and grandchildren Ryan, Daniel, and Alexis. Along with his parents, he is predeceased by his brother Gary Kauffman.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, November 13, 11:00AM at Catagnus Funeral Home & Cremation Center, LLC., 711 N. Franklin Street, Pottstown with visitation from 9:00Am to 10:45AM. There will be a fireman’s processional with fire apparatus immediately following.
