Eva A. “Polly” (Speilman) Ehling, 92, passed into eternity on Wednesday, November 10th at her home in New Berlinville.
Born in New Hanover Township in 1929, Eva was the daughter of the late Lewis and Estella (Gerhart) Speilman.
In her younger years, Eva worked as a seamstress at Lincoln Underware in Pottstown, PA. She would often use her talents to sew clothes for her children as they were growing up. Eva was a member of the New Hanover Lutheran Church where she served as the piano player and Sunday School Teacher for many years. As an avid “old time” country music fan, favoring Patsy Kline, Willie Nelson, Tammy Wynette and many more, Eva would faithfully tune into the Grand Ole Opry every Saturday night. She could often be found spending quality time with dear life-long friends Shirley & Marvin Breidegam.
Surviving is her son Rick Ehling, husband of Sylvia; daughter Sandra Lynn Favinger; brother James Speilman, husband of Janet; sister Nancy Bergstresser, wife of Donald; grandchildren Nicole Donovan, wife of David Glover, Leslie Price, Justin Price partner of Caralynn, Perry John Favinger, Jantzen Meyers, and Jennifer Walls, wife of Tyler; 10 great grandchildren and 1 great, great grandchild. Along with her parents she is preceded in death by daughter Wanda Lou Donovan, her brother Lewis “Sonny” Speilman, and her longtime companion John Horn. Eva will be greatly missed by many neighbors, family and friends.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, November 19th, 11:00am at Catagnus Funeral Home & Cremation Center, LLC., 1020 E. Phila. Ave, Gilbertsville with visitation from 10:00am to 10:45am. Burial will follow the service in Highland Memorial Park in Pottstown.
