Myra Kay (Slavens) Ungrady, 82, of Collegeville

Myra Kay (Slavens) Ungrady, 82, of Collegeville, formerly of Ashland, KY, wife of the late Joseph M. Ungrady, passed away on Saturday, November 27, 2021, at her home.

Born in Middleport, OH, she was the daughter of the late Maurice J. and Dolores (Gardner) Slavens. She was raised in Ashland, KY where she graduated from Ashland High School in 1957.

Myra was an alumnus of Indiana University in Bloomington, IN where she achieved her BS in Nursing in June 1961. She also received her Master of Science from East Texas State University in August 1967. She spent over 60 years in nursing and critical case management professions. As well as a past Education Director for the Association of Operating Room Nurses (AORN). After retirement, Myra enjoyed gardening, gourmet cooking and making delicious preserves and jams.

Surviving is her brother Michael Slavens, husband of Marsha; sister Tamara Boultbee, wife of Gordon; nephews Steven Boultbee, husband of Erin, Jacob Slavens, fiancé of Jennifer, and Michael Slavens, husband of Judy; nieces Meaghan MacDonald (late BMCM Kenneth MacDonald), and Melissa Coleman, wife of Andy; Son-in-Law Gordon Pevzner, granddaughter Catlyn Pevzner and stepsons Christopher Ungrady and John Ungrady and dear close friend Sheila Kneiss as well as many other close friends and colleagues.

Along with her husband and parents, she is predeceased by her brother Frank Slavens, stepdaughter Gail Pevzner, and stepson Tim Ungrady.

A memorial service will be held on Friday, Dec. 3, 11:00AM At Catagnus Funeral Home & Cremation Center, Ltd., 595 W. Main Street, Trappe, with burial to follow in Limerick Garden of Memories. Visitation will be Friday from 10:00Am to 10:45Am at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Myra Ungrady’s name to Indiana University School of Nursing in Bloomington, Indiana

Myra was one of the strongest, kindest and funny woman I know. She taught the rest of us what it's like to grab life by the tail and live it. She'll always be in my heart. I am blessed to have had her as my friend. My condolences and love to her family and all those who mourn her.

I always say everything happens for a reason and to be able to meet and care for ms Myra was a blessing from us talking about nursing to her doing her crosswords every morning still keeping her mind sharp. We had our inside jokes I would never forget sleep in peace ms Myra ??
