John L. Werkley III, 75, of North Coventry, husband of Mary Jane (Pondo) Werkley, passed away Wednesday, December 29, 2021 at Pottstown Hospital.
Born in Philadelphia, he was the son of the late John L. Jr. and Marian Theresa (DePlanque) Werkley.
Jack was a 1965 graduate of Roxborough High School. After graduating, he served in the US Coast Guard. Jack retired from Verizon Telephone Company, where he worked as a splicing technician. After retirement, he worked at St. Thomas More and St. Elizabeth Parishes as a maintenance man. He was commonly referred to as “the Jack of all trades”. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved hunting, fishing, hiking, boating, and bird watching.
Surviving along with his wife are sons John L. Werkley IV and Jeffrey Werkley husband of Denise; daughter Jennifer Alicea Werkley; grandchildren Robert McGee, John L. Werkley V, Jacob Alicea, Tyler Werkley, Maria Alicea, Noah Werkley, and Jamie Werkley; brother James Werkley husband of Maryanne; and sisters Donna Werkley and Marian Humma wife of Christopher.
A Funeral Mass will be held Thursday, January 6, 2022 at 11:00 AM at St. Thomas More Roman Catholic Church, 2101 Pottstown Pike, Pottstown, PA 19465. Interment will be private. Visitation will be held Thursday from 9:30-10:45 AM at the church.
