William C. “Bill” Moyer, 88

William Carl “Bill” Moyer, 88, husband of Pearl N. (Derr) Moyer, passed away peacefully at his home in Gilbertsville on Monday, January 10, 2022.

Born in Pottstown, he was the son of the late William R. Moyer and Fietta (Simmons) Moyer. He graduated from Pottstown High School. After high school, Bill kept busy with his various occupations. He proudly served his country in the US Army. After, he would work as a carpenter for contractor Paul W. Moyer for over 38 years. In retirement, Bill worked at Kulp Car Rentals in Gilbertsville.

Bill enjoyed many aspects of life, but nothing more than being an outdoorsman. He loved hunting and fishing with his sons and grandsons at “Hemlock Haven”, the family cabin which he helped build in Bradford County over 50 years ago. Bill also shared his sportsman knowledge with his community. He was the former President of the Douglass Rod and Gun Club, a longtime instructor for the PA Hunter Safety Course, and a lifetime member of the NRA.

Surviving along with his wife Pearl of 63 years, are his children Scott A. Moyer, husband of Denise, Timothy C. Moyer, husband of the late Carol, Denise F. Moyer, Kelly A. Oswald, wife of Michael, Lori L. Moyer; sisters Geraldine Wegman, wife of the late Daniel, and JoAnne Wirt, wife of Donald; sister-in-law Suzanne Moyer; grandchildren Nathan Moyer, Collin Moyer, Brooke Schwoyer, wife of Greg, Taylor Moyer, Jordan Moyer, Kendal Moyer, Michael Oswald, Damian Oswald, Cameron Oswald, Olivia Pascoe, and Charles Pascoe; great grandchildren Grace Lynn Moyer, Emily and Isabella Schwoyer, Alexis and Brayden Oswald. He is predeceased by his brother Robert A. Moyer.

Services will be held privately by the family at this time.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to New Hanover Lutheran Church (2941 Lutheran Rd, Gilbertsville, PA 19525) in William’s name.

Having been blessed to be a part of the Moyer family 40 some odd years ago, I will always remember the kindness, sense of humor and most of all, Bill's devotion and love for his family. May he rest in the arms of the Lord , healed with divine peace...
