Richard J. Brandel, 89, husband of Edna (Dierolf) Brandel, formerly of Gilbertsville, passed away Friday February 11, 2022 at his residence.
Born in Pottstown, he was the son of the late William J. and Edna (Long) Brandel.
Richard served in the US Army. He was a member of St. Columbkill Catholic Church in Boyertown. Richard was also an avid Philadelphia Phillies fan.
Surviving along with his wife are two sons Richard J. Brandel Jr. husband of Joan Wolff and Michael J. Brandel husband of Anke Christiani; grandchildren Richard J. III, Rachel, and Renee Brandel; great grandson Owen Brandel; and sister Dorothy Kehler.
Along with his parents, Richard was predeceased by his brothers William J. and Joseph J. Brandel, and sisters Edna Miller, Mildred Hood, Irene White, and Helena Hodaz,
A Funeral Mass will be held Saturday February 19, 2022 at 10:00 AM at St. Columbkill Church, 200 Indian Spring Rd., Boyertown, PA 19512. Interment will be private. Visitation will be held Friday February 18, 2022 from 6:00-8:00 PM at Catagnus Funeral Home & Cremation Center, LLC., 1020 E. Philadelphia Ave., Gilbertsville, PA 19525.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Richard’s memory to St. Columbkill Church, 200 Indian Spring Rd., Boyertown, PA 19512.
