Channing C. Givens, 50, of Pottstown, PA

Channing C. Givens, 50, of Pottstown, PA, formerly of GA, husband of Jennifer (Meli) Givens, passed peacefully on Thursday, February 17 at home after a courageous battle with cancer for the past year.

Born in Pensacola, FL, he was the son of Carthel Givens, and Norma (Sapp) Teuton and stepson of Ottis Foy Teuton, Jr.

Channing last worked for Dometic/Marine Acquisitions US Corp prior to his stage 4 esophageal cancer diagnosis in early February 2021 and quickly became like family to them, he greatly enjoyed the people he was around and the work he was doing there. Prior to that he worked at DHL Global Forwarding as a logistics coordinator for more than 15 years responsible for air and ocean freight shipments for Wyeth then Pfizer pharmaceuticals with increasing responsibilities and promotions in managerial roles.

Channing coached Pottsgrove Soccer Club Travel and Intramural Boys Soccer teams over the past 6 years with his son Jacob on every team and took great pride and sincerely cared about each player in doing so. His teams won championships and his philosophy included character building, practicing skills taught to improve, playing together as a team fairly, and most importantly to have fun!

Channing was also an avid guitar player for 20 years, playing in many local bands while living in Georgia prior to moving to PA for a job opportunity where he met his wife, Jennifer, and built a beautiful family and life together since their marriage in 2006.

Channing touched more lives than he realized; he was a kind, caring and thoughtful husband, loving father, inspiring coach and mentor, and the best kind of friend with a great sense of humor. He will be missed very much by all that were blessed to know him.

Surviving with his wife Jennifer is son Jacob Channing Givens; sister Stephanie (Givens) Elder, stepsister Natalie Faye Teuton; stepbrother Mark Allen Teuton, fiancée of Shannon Pendleton; and nephews Max Elder and Allen Teuton; and niece Krystal (Teuton) Thompson.

Services and interment are private with a celebration of life event to be planned in the Spring with friends and family.

In lieu of flowers, Channing’s wish was to have a donation site available for Jacob’s future education and wellbeing so donations may be made to: https://gofund.me/c5f3409f

A video of life memories is being created and a link will be posted on this site when available.

Add My Condolences

So saddened to hear this. I just learned of his Dad's passing. Bill & Norma were my friends in the early 60's. Their daughter Stephanie was born near the birth of my son. I visited Bill one time after moving to Florida - now I wish I had visited more. He meant so much to my early life (age 18) in the 39th Bomb Wing (H) at Eglin AFB, Florida.

Jen, I had no idea of the struggles you and Channing had been going through. I’ll include you in my prayers. I’m trying to be grateful for the blessings I have had with Hilarie and pray we both find the strength and courage to move forward and still cherish the wonderful blessings our love has brought to us. All my best, Scot

The love he held for Jen and Jake was so obvious and beautiful to witness. I remember when Jacob told me about their love of music and the experience of listening to it together while in the car--I could feel their bond so strongly. May Jen and Jacob continue to feel his Presence and his Love.

One of the happiest times for my two sons was when Channing became their best friend. He took the time to play “Magic”, Stratego, and other fun games with them many evenings and weekends. His laughter made us all joyful. He was a blessing for my boys and I will forever be grateful how he taught them the art of friendship. We loved Channing in unison. Peace and comfort to his wife, son, parents, family and all who loved him.

I have known Channing since he was born. I am an older cousin and used to play with his older sister, Stephanie, growing up. Life has taken us on different paths and I have not seen Channing in many years. My memories of him was the cutest little blonde haired guy running around the house playing and laughing. My heart breaks for this loss to his wife, son, mom, sister and the whole family. Our prayers are with you all. Love you, Pam

My heart aches for you and Jacob. I'm at a loss for words. But I'm happy I had the opportunity to meet Channing when we worked at Wyeth. He was the perfect match for you. Hugs to you and Jacob.

So sorry to hear of Channing’s passing. He was a good man we worked together but we also played together. We went fishing many times and my memories of those days will remain with me. Until we meet again rest easy.

Jen and Jacob. I can’t say we worked together because we always ended up talking for hours about life. He talked mostly about the two of you. I am going to miss him and his wit but mostly his depth. I could always count on Channing to not judge me when I had questions about history and current events! I am going to miss him so much. XOXO

Channing was a shining light in my life over the last 25 years. I can say without pause that I am only here today because of his character and heart. He enriched my life and those he met in ways more numerous to count. I am a much better person in this long fe because of Channing. Rest In Peace my friend. I know you are in Gods loving arms.

My memories of Channing have always been about random knowledge of literally everything, always with hilarity! One of the funniest, brightest, and most interesting people who will be missed. Thankful you are no longer in pain. All my love and prayers for Jen, Jacob, Stephanie, Norma and the rest of the family!

I sure loved Channing. He was a young boy when he took piano from me, but he was magnetic and such a precious little guy. My prayers are with Norma, Stephanie, and all his family.
