Christopher J. Gantert, 45, of Spring City, passed away peacefully surrounded by those who loved him most on Wednesday March 9, 2022 at Phoenixville Hospital.
Born in Pottstown, he was the son of Anita M. (Barkman) Watkins and George M. Gantert.
Chris will be missed most for his charming and playful spirit, which he shared graciously with anyone who was lucky enough to cross his path. When Chris wasn’t working on the power lines as an IBEW 126 Equipment Operator (nicknamed “Gravy”), he enjoyed various hobbies, as he excelled at anything he decided to pick up. Chris took every opportunity he had to meet up with friends and brother, George, on the golf course, often with his son Mark in tow. In the summer, he floated countless miles “slayin’ em” while fishing on rivers in the tri-state area. Chris valued time with his sons (who affectionately referred to him as “Gipper the Ripper”) above all else, and that was immediately evident to all who knew him no matter how brief. He managed to make that time count when he found and maintained sobriety 11 years ago. As a dedicated father, Chris almost never missed a game in spite of his work, which was demanding of both his time and energy. He was often the most animated spectator at any and all of his sons’ sporting events as his passion for his children was unmatched and palpable. He took pride in giving his sons all the experiences and joy he could afford like taking annual trips to Dewey Beach where they enjoyed long days in the water (the rougher, the better) and nights at the Go-Cart racing park. At the end of each day, he looked forward to settling down and enjoying his evening with his long time girlfriend, Danielle (Lovie).
Surviving along with his parents are his two sons Mark and Christopher Gantert; brothers George and Matt Gantert; girlfriend Danielle Almond; and step-father Jack Watkins.
Chris was predeceased by his brother Mark Gantert.
