Dorothy “Dottie” L. Smith, 80

Dorothy “Dottie” Lee Smith, 80, of Pottstown, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 29, 2022, at Einstein Medical Center.

Born in Norristown, she was the daughter of the late LeRoy and Dorothy (Sulzbach) Smith.

In her youth, Dottie loved to go bowling, snow skiing, and water skiing. She was very crafty as she enjoyed needle work and ceramics. Dottie loved to travel and play Bridge. She was very active in Radiology societies. She helped to create, run, and teach the Radiology School at Montgomery Hospital School of Radiology. Dottie also enjoyed singing, being a member of the church choir and other choral groups. She loved cats and serving at St. James Lutheran Church, where she was a longtime member.

Surviving is her sister Bonnie Borie, wife of Ken; niece Jennifer (Borie) Yashin, wife of Jason L.; nephew Jason Borie, husband of Cindy; great nieces and great nephews Alexis Yashin, wife of Alexander Amendola, Jason L. Yashin Jr., Jasmine and Joshua Borie. She is predeceased by her daughter Laurel Lea Sullivan.

A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, April 6, 2022, at 11:00 AM at Catagnus Funeral Home (711 N. Franklin St., Pottstown, PA 19464) with Pastor Kay Bender Braun officiating. Burial will be held privately at a later date. Visitation will also be held on Wednesday, April 6, 2022, from 10:00-11:00AM at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. James Lutheran Church (1101 E High St, Pottstown, PA 19464) in Dottie’s name.

To know Dottie was a blessing. I had the privilege of working with her these past few years. Dottie was easy to love and she was one of a kind. She has always warmed my heart and I miss her tremendously. I'm so honored to have had her life on earth cross with mine.

inside, and out. I so looked up to her. Dottie, was a brilliant Women. She was a great Teacher!

My deepest sympathies to Bonnie, Ken and family. I am so saddened by the loss of Dottie. I am so happy that I got to speak to her last week. She was still making plans for when she go better. She was a mentor and a dear friend over theses past 30 years. She will be in my heart ?? and in my prayers . Love you and thank you for being my friend!

Dottie was a dear friend. We played bridge, went on cruises, talked about what she was reading at the moment and shared our cross stitching projects. She loved to sing and what a lovely voice she had! Such a sweet and caring person with a positive attitude. She will be dearly missed.

Dottie was my good friend from Bridge and related outings. I will miss her kindness and sunny disposition. The world would be a better place if there were more lovely and caring people like her. She will be missed by all who knew her.
