Robert H. Hartman, Sr., 84

Robert H. Hartman, Sr., 84, of Pottstown, husband of Mary Ann (Bauer) Hartman, passed away Tuesday July 12, 2022 at his residence.

Born in Riverside, PA, he was the son of the late E. Enos and Lulu (Hess) Hartman.

Bob was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Pottstown where he sang in the church choir for over 65 years. He also served as an elder, deacon, clerk of session, Sunday school teacher, and in his earlier years served as a church camp counselor. Bob also served as a Boy Scout Leader for Troop 146 for 20 years. Bob worked as an engineering aide for the borough of Pottstown for 52 years and was the football equipment manager for Pottstown High School for 36 years. He also belonged to the Jaycees, Pottstown Optimist Club, and the Tri County Active Adult Center. Bob enjoyed volunteering for the Pottstown Halloween Parade and the concession stands at Pottstown High School basketball games and wrestling matches. In his earlier years, he worked alongside his father running multiple county park concession stands for Levengood Dairies.

Surviving along with his wife is his son Robert H. Hartman Jr. at home; daughters Deborah L. Grater wife of Tim, and Marguerite A. Detwiler wife of Tim; grandchildren Tyler Grater, Kyle Grater fiancé of Rebecca Stong, and Matthew and Ryan Detwiler; Goddaughter Staci Loranca; brother-in-law Luke Bauer husband of Gloria; and many nieces and nephews.

Along with his parents, Bob was predeceased by his brother Dallas W. Hartman, sisters Mary Jane Hegedus and Darl Ann Rusinski, and Godson Fred Rusinski.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday July 20, 2022 at 11:00 AM at First Presbyterian Church, 750 N. Evans St., Pottstown, PA 19464. Burial will follow at Highland Memorial Park, Pottstown. Visitation will be held Tuesday July 19, 2022 from 6:00-8:00 PM and Wednesday July 20, 2022 from 9:30-10:45 AM both at the church.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Bob’s memory to the Music Ministry of First Presbyterian Church or to Boy Scout Troop 146 of First Presbyterian Church, 750 N Evans St, Pottstown, PA 19464.
