Frank C. Giffi 77, of East Coventry and Ridgway Pennsylvania, passed away surrounded by loved ones on Monday, August 1, 2022. Born in Clarks, Louisiana, on January 16, 1945, he was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Mary Louise (Stringer) Giffi and his loving wife Ann (Montague) Giffi. Mr. Giffi is survived by his brother Robert Giffi and his wife Lynn, his daughter Stacey Tornetta and her husband John, his son Stephen and his wife Brooke, and two step-daughters Jamie Zuanich and Justine Bruno. He has four grandchildren: Bethany, Nick, Andrew, and Adam as well as one great-granddaughter, Madelyn. Mr. Giffi graduated from Ridgway High School in 1962. He went on to play football for Rutgers University before transferring to Lock Haven University where he graduated in 1967 with his Bachelor of Science, later earning his Master of Education from West Chester University. Mr. Giffi began his professional career in the Phoenixville Area School District in 1968 where he taught for 30 years. While there, he coached football and wrestling; he also officiated girl’s lacrosse and wrestling. After retirement, Mr. Giffi worked as a bus driver for Krapf Bus Company for 20 years. His greatest passion was watching and attending Penn State football games. He also enjoyed bowling and playing golf. Mr. Giffi will be remembered for his humor, dedication and genuine interest in all his students, colleagues, friends, and family. He will be missed immensely. Frank C. Giffi will continue to live on through the stories and memories of those he impacted throughout his incredible 77 years of life.
A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, August 10, 2022, at 11:00 a.m. at Catagnus Funeral Home (329 N. Lewis Rd., Royersford, PA 19468) with Deacon David Kubczak officiating. Burial will follow at St. Aloysius Cemetery. A viewing will also be held on Wednesday, August 10, 2022, from 9:30-11:00 a.m. at the funeral home.
