Fred A. Eckroth, 52

Fred Eckroth, 52, of Boyertown, husband of Lisa (Hughes) Eckroth, passed away Friday September 2, 2022.

Born in Red Bank, New Jersey, he was the son of Martha (Woods) Eckroth and the late Keith E. Eckroth.

Along with his father, Fred was predeceased by his brother Bill Eckroth and his sister Sue Craven.

Surviving along with his wife and mother is his son Gabriel Eckroth, and several nieces and nephews.

Along with being a father, husband, and friend to many, Fred had a passion for learning and improving his karate. By researching karate styles and techniques and attending seminars, he took what he learned and instructed others at his dojo. He expressed great pride watching his students progress through his teachings. Fred's interests and talents also extended to completing models. He had an uncanny ability to change song lyrics to fit whatever topic was at hand. He loved all things sci-fi, especially Transformers and Star Wars, and could fit quotes from his favorite movies into every conversation. He could be kind and easy going, or he could be a grumpy old man who was brutally honest. He was a wonderful caretaker for his father and for his wife. His sarcasm was enjoyed by all. He was a good man, and a smart ass, and he will be terribly missed.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date.

Add My Condolences

Fred was an extremely gifted teacher especially to the youth. His patience and care was on display at all times. While we moved over the past few years he still kept checking on us and more importantly my son. Our prayers are with you Lisa and Gabe.

Fred, I first met you at a seminar in PA and we immediately hit it off. We were kindred souls; sharing our love of karate, family and science fiction. We met again in Okinawa a few years later and I got to know you even better. You were a Sensei, a friend and a true gentleman and I greatly miss you. See you some day in the great dojo in the sky.
