Gerald “Jerry” H. Yerger, 75

Gerald “Jerry” H. Yerger, 75, husband of Sallie Ann (Renninger) Yerger, passed away peacefully on Monday, November 7, 2022, at Chestnut Knoll in Boyertown.

Born in Pottstown, he was the son of the late J. Howard Yerger and Helen (Bieleski) Yerger.

Jerry was a 1964 graduate of Boyertown High School. Upon graduation Jerry proudly served in the United States Air Force, where he played in the Air Force Band. He later went on to work for the US Postal Service. After retirement, Jerry worked at Boscovs, then as a realtor in Florida. Upon moving back to Pennsylvania, he worked at a number of nurseries for several years. Jerry enjoyed playing saxophone and clarinet. He played with the Boyertown Alumni Band, the Director’s Big Band, and several other local bands.

Surviving along with his wife Sallie Ann of 30 years, are his children Steven Yerger, Heather Xanthopoulos, wife of Phil, and Holly Yerger, wife of George O’Hara; Sallie Ann’s children: Adam Hess, husband of Bev, Stephen Hess, husband of Karen, Matthew Hess, and Rebecca Iannelli, wife of Bob; Uncle John and Aunt Marlyn Bieleski; grandchildren Mike and Tony Xanthopoulos; Sallie Ann’s grandchildren: Salena, Jordan, Alina, wife of Bill, Elke, Egan, Ava, Etta, Alvin, husband of Jordan, Corrine, Nicolette, and Lucas; and great grandson Alvin Hess.

A Celebration of Life Luncheon will be held for family and friends at the Keystone Fire House in Boyertown, on Friday November 18th from noon to 3:00 PM. In lieu of flowers contributions can be made to the Boyertown Alumni Band.

So sorry to hear of Jerry's passing. I to was a graduate from Boyertown with the Class of 1964. And played in the Alumni Band for many years' in the percussion section. And also while in high school the band in Junior &Senior High School. And early in life with the Buccaneers.

Jerry was a very good man to work with on my gigs with Swing Fever. An accomplished musician who will be missed in the community.

Jane and I were saddened by the passing of Jerry. We have so many wonderful memories of our friendship from the many family gatherings we attended and the many band events we attended. We look forward to the "Celebration of Life" as a time where we can share our memories with family and friends. Rest In Peace Jerry.
