Lauren Ann Chapis, 56

We lost Lauren Ann Chapis to this world on November 17, 2022, weeks after enjoying her 56th birthday with family on October 23rd.

Born and raised in Pottstown, PA Lauren was the daughter of Nicholas and Marilyn Chapis. Surviving along with her parents is her son Gabriel Zurga; siblings Greg (and Lisanne) Chapis and Anne (and Patrick) Chapis Hirn and their children Katie, Jason, Trexler and Erikson.

Lauren was an inspiration to her friends and family; she maintains a special place in all our hearts. She lived her life to the fullest and never let the fact that she was born with a major congenital heart condition define her life. She graduated from Pottsgrove High School where she played the drums in the marching band. Lauren attended the University of Delaware and then received her Master of Library Science from Drexel University. After grad school, she worked for ten fulfilling years as a librarian at the Hill School – touching the hearts of many students, faculty and staff. Lauren enjoyed traveling, be it abroad with her family or zig-zagging the country on road trips with never enough CDs for the journey. Her life was filled with humor, music, and of course reading. She had a quick wit, great intelligence, and a determined way about her to defy the odds her entire life. The highlight of her life came when she adopted her son Gabriel following the loss of a baby daughter, Daria, who only lived for a few precious months. Lauren had an incredible amount of love reserved for Gabriel and her favorite role was that of a mother.

Friends and family are invited to a celebration of her life at Brookside Country Club in Pottstown, PA on Sunday, November 27th at 1PM.

Memorial contributions may be made in honor of Lauren and her lifetime love of reading to the Pottstown Regional Public Library, 500 East High Street, Pottstown, PA 19464 or a favorite charity.

From sandboxes, to basements, to player pianos, and proms… Lauren always reminded me she was older (and wiser) than me! We will always cherish the many memories and ensure her legacy lives on through our actions. Much love, Dan(ny)!

Dr. and Mrs. Charisma,
My heartvfelt condolences on the loss of Lauren. I was in marching band with her, also playing drums. Her smile lit up everything she walked into a room. We had so much fun together. We always laughed about you being my OB.

Dear Chapis & Hirn family—how sad I am to know Lauren is no longer with us here on earth. I remember her as a high school student—sharp wit, great humor… with a passion for ….Duran Duran (!!)…I always think of her when I hear their music! She was so cute describing how much she loved them! I will never forget that infectious joyfulness.

Holding you all close in my heart as you grieve. May you find peace in her incredible legacy.
