George E. Murray, 89

George E. Murray, 89, beloved by his family and friends, died Jan 2, 2023 after a lengthy illness.

He is survived by his wife Kim; children Karen (Joe) Cullity, Wade Murray and Jill Murray; grandchildren Karl, Kimberly and Kaitlyn; great-grandchildren Karim and Lilah and many other family members who loved him.

Born in Philadelphia, George attended Girard College as a youth. He graduated with a B.A degree from Drexel University and was member of Pi Kappa Phi fraternity. Upon graduation, George enlisted in the Army Reserve and was honorably discharged with the rank of Captain.

George worked in sales and management for The Burroughs Corporation for many years. Upon retiring from Burroughs, he started a second career as a Financial Advisor with American Express.

George’s great loves and passions were spending time with his family, golf (whether playing, teaching or watching), the shore, boating and water skiing, reading, traveling, singing and his monthly poker game that lasted 30 years.

He was a member of Chester Valley CC and Spring Ford CC and was most proud of winning the Presidents Cup at SFCC in 2008.

His favorite shore place was Sea Isle City, NJ where his family vacationed annually for 50 years.

A memorial service will be held on Friday, May 26, 2023, at 11:00AM at Catagnus Funeral Home (329 N. Lewis Rd., Royersford, PA 19468). A visitation will also be held on Friday, May 26, 2023, from 10:00-11:00AM at the funeral home.

All are welcome to join the family for the luncheon following the service as we continue to celebrate and share memories of George at Spring Ford Country Club 48 Country Club Rd., Royersford, PA 19468.

George had a full life and I am honored to have met him. He as others that transition on never fully leave the ones that loved them.
