John R. Cantello, 89, of Norristown, passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 16, 2023.
Born in Norristown, he was the son of the late John and Margaret (McQuisten) Cantello.
John was proud to be a lifelong resident of Norristown. He proudly served in the United States Army and was stationed at Fort Carson in Colorado. John worked for Kaiser Aluminum in Conshohocken where he was a welder. Later on, when Kaiser closed down, he worked at Magnetic Storage as security. John loved everything Old West; the cowboys, horses, clothing, guns, and everything it had to offer. He enjoyed participating in roundups with his peers. Horseback riding was a favorite hobby of his. He enjoyed trail riding and parades. He even rode in the Rose Bowl Parade. John also enjoyed being a part of Mountain Man reenactments.
Surviving is his daughter Cynthia Bauman; nephews John Pasquale, husband of Melinda, and Gus Lauro. He is predeceased by his 4 sisters Margaret, Hope, Frances, and Faith; brother Samuel Cantello; and also by his niece Louann “Mickey” Shatz.
A celebration of life will be held for John at a later date.
