James E. Levengood, 74

James E. Levengood, 74, of Boyertown, husband of Susan J. (Stauffer) Levengood, passed away Thursday May 4, 2023 at his residence.

Born in Pottstown, he was the son of the late Franklin and Wanda (Boronski) Levengood.

James served in the US Army in the 101st Airborne Division during the Vietnam War, where he was awarded the Bronze Star Medal for heroism in ground combat. He was a talented and creative craftsman who enjoyed working with wood and metal. One of his hobbies was making and selling “woody birds”. He and his wife Sue enjoyed attending auctions, flea markets, yard sales and having a small shop at a local indoor flea market. James was an avid outdoorsman who loved hunting, kayaking on the bay, and working outside on his home and property. Taking family vacations to Ocean Pines, MD and Dewey Beach was something he cherished. He also had a passion for classic cars, and purchased a 1966 Mustang that he pridefully entered into car shows. He extended that passion and built his own Shelby Cobra kit car.

Surviving along with his wife are his two daughters Tracy Davidheiser wife of Timothy and Jennifer Ebersole fiancée of Todd Hamm; five grandchildren Angela Miller, Jessica Mackie, Abigail Davidheiser, Jamie Davidheiser, and Keegan Ebersole; two great grandsons, Elijah and Bastian; two brothers Franklin Levengood husband of the late Carol and Joseph Levengood husband of Marcia; and his mother-in-law Grace Stauffer.

A memorial service will be held Wednesday May 10, 2023 at 11:00 AM at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, 1809 Hoffmansville Road, Sassamansville PA 19472. Interment will be private. Visitation will be held Wednesday from 9:45-10:45 AM at the church.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in James’ memory to The Cystic Fibrosis Foundation at https://www.cff.org/donate or to St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Sassamansville.
