Bill P. McDade, Sr., 66

Bill P. McDade, Sr., 66, of Gilbertsville, loving husband of Michele (Varallo) McDade, passed away Friday May 5, 2023 he was surrounded by his two children and wife of 47 years.

Bill was born on February 26, 1957 in Philadelphia, he was the son of the late John Sr. and Gloria (Dolchanczyk) McDade. In his early years he gained an appreciation for family vacations and being mischievous with his siblings.

Surviving along with his wife is his son Billy P. McDade, Jr. husband of Joanna; daughter Erica S. Greaves wife of Mike; grandchildren Billy III, Ana, and Carly; brother John McDade, Jr. husband of Debbie; sister Lynne Thompson wife of Jim. He was an exceptional surrogate fur daddy to the late Tobi Donald (Butkis) and Luci Marie Greaves during their fathers two tours to Iraq.

Bill graduated high school and worked at Pantry Pride warehouse for 5 years prior to his career at Allied Tube & Conduit Corp. in Philadelphia as a heavy-duty forklift operator for 40 years. During his tenor he served as a union shop steward where he gained lasting relationships with many of his colleagues.

Bill was a beyond devoted family man who especially loved spending time with his grandchildren. He dubbed his grandson BillyIII (Boy Boy) Ana (Sissy Face) and Carly – (BaeBae). He enjoyed watching BillyIII ride moto cross and setting up camp in the RV, playing dress up with the girls or taking them to their special spot at Green Lane Park for fishing or on a road trip and having a picnic. Pop Pop received such pleasure accompanying Billy Jr’s family on the multiple employee Snap On trips which included Disney, Washington D.C and Nashville.

He was a selfless man and was always willing to help others in need. Bill enjoyed trips to Lancaster, his annual vacations in Ocean City, NJ, Trips to Florida and saltwater fishing. He also enjoyed tasks around his home albeit cutting the grass, tinkering around in the garage aka “gayraj” splitting firewood, or undertaking all sorts of home improvement projects.

Bill had a knack for word association. He was quick witted and always added a funny nickname to the simplest of things that stuck with us and we continue to use in his honor.

A memorial service will be held Saturday May 20, 2023 at 11:00 AM at Catagnus Funeral Home & Cremation Center, Ltd., 329 N. Lewis Rd., Royersford, PA 19468. Interment will be private. Visitation will be held Saturday from 9:00-10:45 AM at the funeral home.

I knew Biil for many years at ATC. I was the Quality Control Inspector. He worked in the area known as Secondary Finishing, but he did his job almost perfectly, very accountable for his actions and did his job in great detail. He was an excellent friend and we talked from time to time. He was a KUDOS to me and I told him so on several occasions. I'm so sorry about his departure but Bill is in heaven with our creator. My deepest condolences to his family. Rest in peace my friend.
