Martin James Tarmin, 72

Martin (Marty) James Tarmin, age 72 of Gilbertsville went home to the Lord on May 6, 2023.

Born in Norristown, Pa, Marty was the youngest son of the late Agnes (Detwiler) and Augustus Tarmin. He was a graduate of both Bishop Kenrick High School and Montco VoTech where he studied mechanics. After graduating high school, Marty entered into the US Army and served as a mechanic in Viet Nam.

Marty worked for over 30 years as a postal clerk at the Southeastern Mail Facility in Devon, Pa. He was a great mentor to not only his children, but to the many teens who spent time at the Tarmin household while growing up and to this day treasure the memories they had spent with him.

Marty is survived by his children Katrina Tarmin, Robert (Janet) Tarmin, Steven (Dolores) Tarmin and Charlene Tarmin (Luke) MIller; his former wife of 37 years Rita (Picariello) Tarmin; His grandchildren - James Tarmin, Brooke Tarmin, Kaylie Miller, Caden Miller and one great-granddaughter, Aeris Maize Miller; two brothers, Anthony (Patricia) Tarmin, James (Maryanne) Tarmin and his sister Roseanne (Snooky) Hammond; numerous nieces and nephews as well as great nieces and nephews.

A private service will be held in Marty’s honor this month. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Bayada Hospice of Boyertown (there is a link on their website) or to the Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation in honor of Marty.

Deepest heartfelt condolences on the passing of your beloved Marty. I have known Marty (and Rita) since our days at Bishop Kenrick High School and remained great friends after graduation. I remember all the picnics and get togethers we had at the Tarmin household and how much fun was had by all. I remember the fun rivery between the "friends" and the "neighbors" and the many laughs we had together. These memories will be with us always. Marty was a good friend, caring, kind, always had time for you, and devoted to his family and friends. May your many memories of Marty sustain and comfort you during this difficult time and may he forever be "an angel on your shoulder" until you meet again. My thoughts and prayers are with all of you Katrina, Bobbie, Charlene, Steven, his beautiful grandchilren and extended family and friends. With all my love, Ellie
