Robert G. Myers, 97, husband of the late Doris K. (James) Myers, passed away on June 4, 2023 at Bristol House Memory Care in Warrington, PA.
Born in Danboro, PA, he was the youngest son of Arlington and Stella (Gross) Myers.
After high school graduation in 1944, Robert enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served on the U.S. navel ship, Chicago, during WWII. He was honorably discharged in May, 1946.
Early in his career, he worked at Myers Frozen Foods. Years later, he was employed as the chief engineer in the maintenance department at Mrs. Smith Pies located in Pottstown, PA. Robert designed and installed equipment for Smith’s various plants across the United States to make the job and the quality of their product better. He was often referred to as “Mr. Fix-it.” As stated by one of the Smith Pie Company executives to Robert upon his retirement, “…many of your designs are still working, for as you know, much of the equipment is labeled the ‘Myers…’” Robert retired from Mrs. Smith’s in 1989.
Robert was an avid fisherman. He made numerous trips to Delaware and Canada with RV for weekend or week-long fishing excursions.
Surviving are his three children: Barbara Christman, wife of Ronald Christman, Sharon Coyle, and Robert Myers, Jr.; three grandsons, Michael Coyle, Matthew Christman, and Jonathan Christman; six great-grandchildren, Emma Coyle, Owen Coyle, Karrissa Christman, Mikayla Christman, Caleb Christman, and Elizabeth Christman.
Robert was pre-deceased by his parents, his wife, his sisters (Frances Tyson and Jean Overholt), as well as his brother (Ralph Myers).
Service and burial will held privately for the family at the Limerick Garden of Memories.
