Dorothea M. (McClanen) Hamlin, 101, wife of the late James G. Hamlin, passed away peacefully on Monday, June 19, 2023, in Boyertown.
Born in Philadelphia, she was the daughter of the late Wilson T. McClanen and Maude E. (Daubner) McClanen.
Dorothea was a graduate of the Philadelphia College of Pharmacy & Science as a Bacteriologist. She enjoyed helping at her husband’s Pharmacy in Southampton, Pa. Dorothea was an active member of the Women’s Club and Pottstown YMCA. She was a volunteer Arthritis Aquatic Instructor at the age of 90 years old. Dorothea was an avid reader and gardener who loved plants. She and her husband were active members of the Elverson Garden Club. Together, they would grow mums and flowers for the Longwood Gardens. Dorothea was also a member of the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Pottstown.
Surviving is her son Thomas Hamlin, husband of Theresa (Murphy) Hamlin; daughter Catherine Mock, companion of Kenneth Williams; also surviving are grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Services will be held privately by the family.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Pottstown (1565 S. Keim St, Pottstown, PA 19465) in Dorothea’s name.
