I wanted to express my deepest condolences to Bill’s family. I can honestly say that without Bill’s mentoring and friendship my career and indeed my life would not have been the same. His wisdom and his devotion to God, his wife, his family and our customers’ mission always came first. He was a true character, a true friend and a true role model. He will be sorely missed!

Bill was not only a coworker, but also a good friend. I have so many wonderful memories of being mentored, working and traveling (traveling was always an adventure with Bill) together. He provided me with an excellent base for my career from GE to Arcfield. I truly missed Bill when he stopped working. My deepest condolences to his family and remember the wonderful memories will last forever.

Bill Walsh was of several mentors I had dating back to 1983. He schooled me well in electro-optics and image processing as well as how to be a leader in GE and Lockheed Martin. He was an incredible mentor, leader and engineer. I often thought of him as my second father. He has been missed dearly at work since the start of the pandemic and our mission has lost a true pioneer. He and his wife Jean had a wonderful family life and I enjoyed hearing his family stories. God Bless Bill and his family

Bill Walsh enjoyed the pursuit of solving hard problems particularly ones that related to the image quality of satellite images. He worked tirelessly and was always surrounded by people who were part of his team. His sense of humor and direct communication made him a remarkable leader. I mastered many elements of the IQE under Bill’s tutelage. As an additional benefit he schooled me about homeless persons and the complexities in their lives. Bill had a life well lived.

Bill Walsh was one of the great Aerospace Engineers for this country as we learned to operate in space. He was admired by his peers and mentees at GE, as well as dozens of the government’s brightest space pioneers. This was “rocket science”. God Bless him. Thank you Bill.

My condolences and thoughts are with the Walsh family. I worked with Bill for several years. He was in his late 70s and I was in my mid 20s but he was still my best friend in the office! We would meet in the conference room everyday Bill was in the office for several hours. Half the time he’d spend mentoring me, and the other half he’d tell me stories about his kids and grandkids! He was so proud of all of them! Bill was a brilliant engineer, a great mentor and an excellent friend!

Bill and I worked together at the SI for over 30 years. He had great technical ability and used it to understand and provide solutions to many of the engineering challenges we encountered. But I remember him most as being one of the most decent and caring persons one would meet. He often spoke of his family and their importance to him but also cared for coworkers and their families. He is remembered fondly.

I am saddened to hear about Bill's passing. My condolences and prayers to all his family and friends. Bill and Jean guided us through the Marriage classes 20 years ago and were some of the first people I met at Fairview.
